IL-based Tenneco Automotive has taken over title
sponsorship of the CART Grand Prix of Detroit, a race owned
and operated by IMG Motorsports (IMG). The August 8 race
run in Belle Isle, MI, will now be called the Tenneco
Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit (DETROIT NEWS, 11/10).
SENIOR TOUR: NJ-based Ingersoll-Rand becomes the title
sponsor of the season-ending Senior Tour Championship
beginning in '99. Energizer was the title sponsor from '95-
98 (PGA). USA TODAY's Jerry Potter reports that the event
will make an "unpopular departure" from the Dunes Golf &
Country Club in SC to the new TPC of Myrtle Beach, SC, a
move PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem calls "progress."
The Myrtle Beach, SC, course was "built with the intent" of
becoming the event's permanent home. Finchem said that the
new venue will be "more fan friendly" (USA TODAY, 11/10).
LPGA INKS BUDGET: IL-based Budget Rent-a-Car has
extended its marketing partnership with the LPGA to 2000.
Budget has been the official car and truck rental company
and an official sponsor of the LPGA since '91 (LPGA).
