RATINGS NOTES: Fox's single game was up 27% from the 8.3/22 for the same week last year. Fox's NFL coverage is averaging a 9.7/23, down 1% from the 9.8/24 it earned through nine weeks in '97....CBS's NFL coverage is averaging a 9.0/21 through nine weeks, down 1% from the 9.1/22 NBC was averaging a year ago....ABC's coverage of MLS Cup '98 was down 28% from the 1.4/3 it received in '97 (THE DAILY). On L.I., Steve Zipay writes that NFL ratings "are rebounding," but the "huge increase in TV rights has yet to be justified" (NEWSDAY, 10/30)....Fox Sports Net scored its highest rating ever for a live sporting event, as the October 10 UCLA-AZ game earned a 1.9, the equivalent of more than 1.2 million homes. The L.A. and Phoenix markets each drew a 4.3 rating (FSN)....The 49ers-Rams drew a 15.7 in St. Louis last Sunday, marking the lowest local rating since the Rams moved in '95 (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 10/28).
