RIP IT, RIP IT GOOD: RIP TORN IN THE IRONS FOR NTRA CAMPAIGN

Actor Rip Torn will be the spokesperson for the NTRA's
'99 ad campaign, according to AD AGE. Production for eight
new TV spots featuring Torn will begin November 9 and the
campaign is set to break in late December and early January.
Keeping "Go Baby Go" as its tag line, the NTRA "is expected
to spend" $25-30M next year, using radio and print to
support its TV buys (AD AGE, 10/30). Director Phil
Morrison, whose clients have included ESPN, Nike, Energizer
and Microsoft, will produce and direct the TV spots (NTRA).
TV TIME: Ten graded stakes races for horses three-
years-old and up will be featured on the NTRA's '99 TV
series on Fox and Fox Sports Net. The Grade I Donn Handicap
from FL's Gulfstream Park will launch the series -- called
the "NTRA Champions on Fox" -- on January 30, the day before
Super Bowl XXXIII on Fox (Fox).
