WASHINGTON POST REPORTS THAT ANGELOS INTERESTED IN REDSKINS

Orioles Owner Peter Angelos and Islanders co-Owner
Howard Milstein "apparently will join the bidding" for the
Redskins, according to sources of Maske & Heath of the
WASHINGTON POST. Sources say that if Angelos makes a formal
proposal for the franchise and Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, he
will bid "at least" $450M. An NFL official said that the
league's rules regarding cross-ownership "would apply" to
Angelos, with the NFL's conflict being that Angelos already
owns the Orioles, which compete in Baltimore with the
Ravens. A source close to Angelos said that he believes the
rules "would not prevent [Angelos] from purchasing the
Redskins and he might be willing to mount a legal challenge
to such a restriction." Maske & Heath write that Angelos,
who had a "tumultuous relationship" with Jack Kent Cooke,
has kept his pursuit of the Redskins quiet because sources
said that "he doesn't want to rankle John Kent Cooke and
risk alienating the trustees and NFL officials." Angelos
declined to comment on the report (WASHINGTON POST, 10/30).
