RANGERS AND KNICKS LOOKING CRYSTAL CLEAR IN N.Y. VIA HDTV

Starting with last night's broadcast of the NHL
Rangers-Sabres game, Cablevision's MSG Network "will
televise all Rangers and Knicks games using" HDTV, according
to Steve Zipay of NEWSDAY. After watching last night's game
in HDTV, Zipay notes some "obvious" differences with the new
technology, including the viewer having "a sense of
peripheral vision and dimension. ... Judging from watching
two sets side by side, the background and the colors were
much sharper on the HDTV transmission" (NEWSDAY, 10/28).
