PANTHERS' SHARES FALL IN THIRD QUARTER, BUT EXPECT REBOUND

          Florida Panthers Holdings, the parent company of the
     NHL Panthers and six resort hotels, lost $20M, or $.57 a
     share, in the third quarter ended September 30, according to
     Katherine Hutt of the Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL.  While
     the loss was $.02 less than analysts had predicted, Panthers
     Holdings "suffered during the summer because its hockey team
     wasn't playing and its resorts were in their slowest
     season."  The holding company lost $12.2M, or $.38 a share,
     during the same quarter in '97.  However, analysts "expect
     the company to see" net income of $23.5M. or $.67 a share,
     this year, up from last year's net income of $1.4M, or $.04
     a share, due to the opening of team's new National Car
     Rental Center (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 10/28).
