          In N.Y., Harvey Araton writes on a possible sale of the
     Yankees to Cablevision and writes, "Despite his image as a
     big spender with big money, the genuine George
     [Steinbrenner's] cash flow is whispered not to be as strong
     as it once was."  According to someone familiar with
     Steinbrenner's talks with Cablevision, "He needs the money"
     (N.Y. TIMES, 10/23)....The NPSL begins its 15th season on
     Saturday night and Commissioner Steve Paxos said the 13-team
     league is looking to add franchises in Vancouver and Calgary
     (CP, 10/23).  Paxos: "We have more teams than the NBA did in
     its 15th season.  We averaged 6,254 fans last year where the
     NBA averaged 5,494 in its 15th season.  And they had eight
     teams; we're at 13" (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 10/23)....CORRECTION:
     Senators President & CEO Roy Mlakar is not a consultant for
     Ogden.  THE DAILY regrets the error.
