EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          Sun Belt Conference Commissioner CRAIG THOMPSON will be
     named Commissioner of the new conference being formed by the
     eight schools leaving the WAC.  Thompson will take over
     duties beginning January 1, 1999 (DALLAS MORNING NEWS,
     10/16)....ANDY JASNER, former Staff Writer/Editor for CBS
     SportsLine, has been named the CBA's Dir of Media Relations
     (CBA)....MARV SMALLEY, who served as the U.S. Department of
     Defense liaison for the '96 Atlanta Games, has been named
     Deputy Dir of Security for the 2002 Games.  STEVE JEFFRIES,
     who joined the SLOC 10 months ago as Dir of Security, will
     assume a consulting role with the Committee.  In other news,
     BILL WAGNER has been named SLOC Dir of Operations (SLOC).
