BRONCOS WIVES TACKLE COST OF NEW STADIUM WITH CFANS

Wives of Broncos players and personnel, along with
Citizens for a New Stadium (CFANS), "lunched with 275 women"
at Mile High Stadium "to focus on the team's charitable
contributions to the city," but also to campaign for the
team's upcoming stadium referendum, according to Peggy Lowe
of the DENVER POST. Organizers hoped for 500 attendees to
the invitation-only event, called "A Women's Town Hall: Why
We All Win," where those in attendance could have their
picture taken with the Lombardi Trophy. Broncos Owner Pat
Bowlen's wife, Annabel, discussed the upcoming vote: "This
isn't about making Pat and I richer. ... If we wanted to be
richer, we could go to Los Angeles and have blown out of
here a long time ago and be 10 times richer." Janet Elway,
Peggy and Mike Shanahan and Amy Van Dyken were also at the
event. Lowe reported that Citizens Opposing the Stadium Tax
(COST), have also been targeting female voters by attending
youth soccer games (DENVER POST, 10/14).
