TIGER WOODS DROPS HUGHES NORTON, BUT REMAINS WITH IMG

IMG Golf Division head Alistair Johnston confirmed on
Tuesday that Tiger Woods has "severed his relationship" with
agent Hughes Norton, according to Doug Ferguson of the AP.
Johnston said that Woods will remain as an IMG client "way
beyond the next five years." Johnston: "We are in a
transition mode with respect to the executive team assigned
to Tiger" (AP, 10/14). On CNN/SI.com, Jaime Diaz quotes
Tiger's father, Earl as saying, "The decision came down to a
fundamental difference. For Hughes, the dollar is almighty.
For Tiger, money is not that important. And Hughes
underestimated Tiger's personal growth and his grasp of his
own business. ... I think we'll see a different Tiger now"
Diaz: "According to sources, Woods felt he had been
overcommitted in business deals, and had lost faith in the
direction Norton wanted to take him" (CNN/SI.com, 10/14).
