          In Houston, Warner Cable agreed to pay 10,669 of its
     subscribers "about $175,000" for May 17, 1994, when part of
     a Suns-Rockets playoff game was blacked out due to equipment
     failure.  An additional $125,000 in attorney's fees brought
     the total of the class-action settlement to $300,000
     (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/29)....In St. Petersburg, Eric Deggans
     calls ABC's "Monday Night Blast" pre-game show "a 20-minute
     pep-rally that proves ABC couldn't find a real show anyone
     wanted to watch before football" (ST. PETE TIMES, 9/29).
     ESPN's Chris Berman: "Welcome to the ESPN Zone where we're
     still cleaning up Joe Theismann's meals from yesterday"
     ("Monday Night Countdown," ESPN, 9/28)....NFL Sunday Ticket
     is on pace to break its subscriber record, as it will reach
     700,000 subscribers in '98, up from 550,000 last season. 
     More than 10,000 commercial establishments also have the
     package (NFL)....Cheryl Ladd will be a guest sportscaster
     for Lifetime's coverage of the Lifetime/AFLAC Tournament of
     Champions for Breast Cancer Awareness from October 8-11 in
     AL (Lifetime)....CBS awarded one million American Airlines
     AAdvantage miles to a viewer who correctly answered
     questions about five new programs that debuted on CBS last
     Monday.  Viewers entered CBS's "Million Mile Monday" sweeps
     via entry forms in the American Way in-flight magazine, or
     on American and CBS's Web sites (MEDIA CENTRAL, 9/29).
