DOES BOWLEN BECOME L.A. FAVORITE IF BRONCOS VOTE FAILS?

HNTB Corp. unveiled its design plans for a new Broncos
stadium on Thursday, according to Peggy Lowe of the DENVER
POST. The facility would be "horse-shoe shaped" with a
"futuristic Jetson-esque design," but would also feature
"rugged rock walls and a rock-'em-sock-'em fan section much
like Mile High Stadium's infamous South Stands." The site
also includes a "Colorado Wall" with local art, interactive
exhibits and other city information (DENVER POST, 9/25).
L.A. STORY? In Denver, Adam Schefter, under the header,
"Bowlen Key To Expansion," wrote that "there is no way the
NFL is awarding an expansion team" to Houston or L.A. "until
Denver decides what it wants to do about a new football
stadium." If Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen is unable to get a
new stadium, "he will put the Broncos up for sale, Denver
will risk losing its football team, and the expansion groups
in Houston and Los Angeles can forget about gaining entry
with the NFL." Schefter added that Bowlen would then become
the "favorite" to get an L.A. team (DENVER POST, 9/27).
