SIT DOWN, JON! REDS PARTNERS MATCH LEDECKY'S OFFER FOR STAKE

          A group of Reds limited partners reportedly has told
     prospective investor Jon Ledecky that "it will match his bid
     to buy a share of the club," according to Geoff Hobson of
     the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER.  Ledecky said he thinks the move
     "is a prelude to the partners buying out" Reds CEO Marge
     Schott before the partnership expires December 31, 2000. 
     Ledecky said the group, including Louise Nippert, George
     Strike, Carl Linder and William Reik, will exercise its
     right to match offers on the $7M share for sale by Frisch's
     Restaurants.  Ledecky: "I'm not bitter at all.  ... I feel
     happy because I think I helped bring together some elements
     of the partnership."  In a side-bar, Hobson adds that the
     partners' move comes within two weeks of MLB's informal
     deadline for deciding whether to extend Schott's suspension
     from running the team (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 9/16).
