RATINGS: USA'S U.S. OPEN NUMBERS SEE DAYTIME GAINS

          Through 75 hours of coverage on USA Network, the U.S.
     Open had a 1.0 household (HH) rating (766,000 households),
     equaling last year's rating for 71 hours of coverage
     (706,000).  USA's total number of HHs is up 8%.  In
     primetime, through 31 hours, USA has a 1.2 rating (915,000),
     compared to a 1.3 in '97 (910,000) for 32 hours, an 8% drop
     in rating, but 1% increase in HHs.  Through 29 hours of
     daytime coverage, USA has 0.8 HH rating (566,000), which is
     up 22% in ratings and 40% in HHs (USA Network)....A record
     175 million hits and 116 million page views have been
     recorded on www.usopen.org during the first week of the
     tournament, representing a 275% increase in server traffic
     over the total of the full two weeks of the '97 Open (IBM).
