NHL RADIO WAVES: A PING IN THE HAWKS' PLANS FOR PANG?

          The Blackhawks' hopes of having current ESPN analyst
     Darren Pang take over as the team's TV/radio color
     commentator "hit a snag" yesterday, when Pang "turned down"
     the team's initial contract offer.  Sources say the Hawks'
     offer "was substantially below" what Pang is paid by ESPN
     (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 9/10).  After 16 years as the Hawks'
     color commentator, Dale Tallon is "stepping out of the
     broadcast booth and into the front office," as the team's
     new Dir of Player Personnel (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 9/6)....
     ...Former Avalanche coach Marc Crawford "is expected to soon
     sign a deal" with "Hockey Night in Canada" as an analyst for
     the upcoming NHL season (DENVER POST, 9/9)....Cammi
     Granato's deal to become the NHL Kings' color commentator is
     for three years (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 9/9).
