GIULIANI: "LEON, LET'S MAKE A DEAL!" TUNA TO CROSS HUDSON?

NYC officials have had "at least one discussion" with
Jets Owner Leon Hess about moving from the Meadowlands to
New York City, with further talks planned, according to
David Seifman of the N.Y. POST. A mayoral aide "cautioned"
that talks were still "very premature." Last week, Mayor
Rudy Giuliani said if one of the two NFL teams came back to
the city, it would "likely" be the Jets since "they don't
have a permanent home." But Seifman wrote that one hitch
may be Hess' other business interests in NJ that "make him
anxious to stay in the good graces" of state officials.
Hess couldn't be reached for comment (N.Y. POST, 8/29).
