AFTER TRUE ROMANCE IN HOLLYWOOD, KANGOL LOOKS TO THE LINKS

          After undergoing a management-led buyout and a
     "worldwide reorganization," U.K.-based Kangol, manufacturers
     of wool berets which have "caught on with musicians and
     Hollywood types," has a new U.S. president and "is set to
     make a renewed push in golf," according to Mark Sullivan of
     GOLFWEEK.  Kangol's U.S. President Edward Sallie said that
     the company will "sign a few players to promote its product
     on tour, sponsor special events and invest in junior golf
     programs."  Kangol will also "work on growing its women's
     golf business and expanding its account base" from its
     current level of 1,000 shops.  Kangol berets and goods have
     been a hit in Hollywood the past few years, and worn by film
     director Quentin Tarantino, actor Samuel L. Jackson and
     models Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell (GOLFWEEK, 8/22 issue).
          LEAVING LAS VEGAS: In N.Y., Mike Stachura reports that
     almost everything about this year's PGA Int'l Golf Show in
     Las Vegas "was decidedly low profile."  Stachura writes that
     many manufacturers "were disappointed in the low traffic" at
     this year's show, and that there was "even the sense among
     some observers that the number of major golf shows should be
     limited to one or at least that a date change should be made
     for future Las Vegas shows" (N.Y. TIMES, 8/27).
