PLAYERS AND AGENTS GET BRUNT OF BAD WILL IN LOCKOUT POLL

A new poll conducted by Dan Jones and Associates for
the Deseret News shows that "most Uthans" blame NBA players
and agents for the current labor impasse, according to Loren
Jorgensen of the DESERET NEWS. The players were listed as
the "most responsible" party by 28% of respondents, agents
were next with 15%, "while the owners were deemed the more
responsible by just" 10%. A full third of the sample -- 33%
--"didn't know who to peg as the biggest culprit." The poll
of 407 adult Utah residents was conducted from August 18 to
20, and has a +/- of 5%. In other results, 51% said the
lockout "will definitely or probably result" in the loss of
games, while 29% said "games probably or definitely will not
be lost." Jorgensen: "The interest level in the NBA of the
majority of respondents has not been affected by the lockout
as of yet. Still, more than a third already feel the
lockout has probably or definitely affected their interest
level in a negative way" (DESERET NEWS, 8/26).
