CBA'S GOTTA HAVE IT; NEW LINE EYES "REAL WORLD"-CBA STYLE

The CBA has signed Spike Lee's Spike DDB to design a
"new logo and create a new image" for the league, according
to John Lombardo of the SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. CBA
Commissioner Gary Hunter: "We want to create a new look and
we feel that (Spike Lee) will be able to give the league an
edge." The deal with Spike DDB is the "third component of a
strategy to build the CBA into a national brand," coming on
the heels of its deal with New Line TV and Atlantic Records.
New Line is "producing a one-hour show on the CBA that it is
pitching to networks in hopes of having it broadcast in
December or January." The concept of the show is "to
combine aspects" of MTV's "Real World" with basketball.
Hunter said that he hopes to use the special as a
"springboard" into a national game of the week package via a
time buy (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/24 issue).
