BRONCOS PLAYERS FINALLY TOLD TO DO WITHOUT EAS SUPPLEMENTS

At the request of Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen, Broncos
coach Mike Shanahan "has instructed his team not to wear EAS
attire during postgame interviews this season," according to
Marvez & DeBruin of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, who report that
the decision "comes one day after the NFL met with the
Broncos" to discuss players -- notably LB Bill Romanowski
and TE Shannon Sharpe -- who visibly endorse a company which
isn't a league licensee. Romanowski said he "will respect
Shanahan's wishes," although he said he will discuss the
matter with the NFLPA. Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen: "[W]e have
nothing against EAS. I don't think the league does, either.
We all use the stuff." But he says the league must protect
its business partners: "I know basically what kind of money
we get for sideline exposure. And the postgame interviews
fall within that" (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 8/21).
