QUOKKA SPORTS LINES UP $16M IN ADDITIONAL FUNDING

          SF-based Quokka Sports, which touts its Total Sports
     Immersion (TSI) productions, announced the close of $16M in
     additional venture funding as it prepares to expand its
     digital media coverage of int'l sporting events.   The
     capital comes from new investors Accel Partners and MediaOne
     Interactive Services, as well as BancAmerica Robertson
     Stephens, Intel, Media Technology Ventures and Trinity
     Ventures, which also participated in earlier funding rounds. 
      Accel Partners venture partner Bruce Golden: "We see
     digital sports media as a giant market in transition, from
     sites that are essentially information publishers to
     companies that take the next step in providing compelling
     content.  Quokka Sports is way ahead of everybody else in
     capturing and presenting key global sports in a digital
     media environment."  Quokka is preparing its next TSI around
     the '98-99 Around Alone solo yacht race (Quokka).
