          Wizards G CALBERT CHEANEY, a Univ. of IN alum, donated
     $630,000 to fund property and construction costs of the
     Greater St. James Missionary Christian Education and
     Recreation Center in Evansville, IN (AP/INDIANAPOLIS STAR-
     NEWS, 8/9)....Jazz F KARL MALONE is profiled by Ric Bucher
     of the WASHINGTON POST.  Noting Malone's signing of DWIGHT
     MANLEY, Bucher writes that the Jazz sent Malone a letter
     notifying him that if he were hurt during his appearance in
     a pro wrestling match, NBA rules stipulated that the final
     year of his contract, worth $6M, "could be voided."  Malone:
     "That's why I signed with Dwight.  I don't need that.  LARRY
     [MILLER, the Jazz's Owner], to me, had a great thing for
     years.  Now you pick up the phone and call me, I'm calling
     Dwight because that's against the rules" (WASHINGTON POST,
     8/11)....Broward County's new homeless shelter will be named
     after WAYNE HUIZENGA, whose Family Foundation donated $1M of
     the facility's $7.9M construction cost (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-
