FRANCHISE NOTES

COWBOYS: Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones said yesterday that
he expects the NFL to look into details surrounding the
Michael Irvin-Everett McIver situation. The inquiry "could
reveal whether Irvin intentionally tried to harm McIver."
Irvin, on a report that Jones brokered a deal for the WR to
pay McIver for his silence: "I didn't pay anybody anything.
There has been no deal." Jones: "I am not aware of any
deal. I know of no deal." NFL VP/Communications Greg
Aiello issued a "no comment" when asked if the NFL was
looking into the situation (Kevin Lyons, FT. WORTH STAR-
TELEGRAM, 8/11). ESPN's Chris Mortenson: "NFL security is
looking into this Irvin/McIver incident, trying to determine
exactly what happened" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 8/10).
NOTES: In Orlando, Disney World's Minnie Mouse "has
agreed to purchase the last 100 season-ticket deposits" to
secure the city's WNBA franchise. As of yesterday, the
Magic had received deposits for 4,850 season tickets,
leaving them 150 shy of the league-mandated 5,000 (ORLANDO
SENTINEL, 8/11)....The Tigers drew 94,521 for the three-day,
four-game series against the Mariners over the weekend, the
