CARLSON NAMES STADIUM TASK FORCE; DOES MN WANT A RESPITE?

          MN Gov. Arne Carlson named a 12-member task force to
     study the stadium needs of pro sports teams and the Univ. of
     MN, according to Robert Whereatt of the Minneapolis STAR
     TRIBUNE.  The Sports Facility Task Force will be led by
     Coldwell Banker Burnet Reality CEO Ralph Burnet.  Carlson
     wants the group to study and recommend if any new facilities
     should be built and how to finance them.   Carlson wants the
     task force to make its recommendations in October so they
     can be debated during the fall elections (STAR TRIBUNE,
     8/8).  A STAR TRIBUNE editorial calls for a "useful timeout"
     in the stadium debate: "After long controversy, a stretch
     with no lease expirations or ultimatum deadlines in new view
     would be a blessing" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 8/9).
