EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          PAUL BROOKS was named VP/Office of the President of
     NASCAR.  Brooks will be a liaison to NASCAR President BILL
     FRANCE in various matters, including administration,
     industry relations and strategic planning.  He will also
     serve as Exec Assistant/Office of the Chair of Int'l
     Speedway Corp.  Brooks joined NASCAR in '93 and most
     recently served as Senior Dir/Special Projects Worldwide
     (NASCAR)...Yankees Owner GEORGE STEINBRENNER, MLB COO PAUL
     BEESTON, Cardinals Chair WILLIAM DEWITT JR., and MLB exec
     FRANK ROBINSON were all named to the board of the Baseball
     Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY (N.Y. TIMES, 7/31)....Sports
     columnist RANDY GALLOWAY has left the Dallas Morning News
     and will write a column four times a week for the Ft. Worth
     Star-Telegram (Star-Telegram).  At the Morning News, TIM
     COWLISHAW was promoted from sports reporter to sports
     columnist (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/31)....The Red Sox "made
     official the shakeup in their front office," as the team's
     Dir of Minor League Operations ED KENNEY was named Assistant
     GM to Exec VP/GM DAN DUQUETTE (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/31).
