FEEDING FRENZY: VOLUME SERVICES & SERVICE AMERICA TO MERGE

          SC-based Volume Services and CT-based Service America
     Corp. have agreed to combine in a transaction creating one
     of the nation's top concessionaire services, with annual
     revenues of more than $400M.  The combined enterprise,
     called Volume Services America, Inc., will be headquartered
     in Spartansburg, SC, and will be led by Volume Services
     Chair & CEO Lawrence Hatch and Service America President &
     CEO John Dee.  The company will provide services to nine NFL
     teams and seven MLB teams.  Deal terms were not disclosed,
     and both companies are privately held (THE DAILY).
