          U.S. SENIOR OPEN: The overall announced attendance at
     L.A.'s Riviera Country Club for the U.S. Senior Open was
     76,500, with Sunday's final round crowd announced at 25,500
     (L.A. TIMES, 7/27).  Thursday's crowd was estimated at
     7,000, Friday's 14,000 and Saturday's 22,000.  Tournament
     Dir Bill Knight: "We expected smaller crowds on the first
     two days" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 7/26).
