PRO PLAYER AND STARTER REPORT SIGNIFICANT POST-TITLE SALES

Sales of Bulls and Red Wings championship licensed
merchandise "have blown away most projections and are still
humming along," according to several retailers and
manufacturers, cited by Andy Bernstein of the SPORTSBUSINESS
JOURNAL. Pro Player reports sales of Bulls championship
merchandise has hit $6M, a 40% jump over last year, while
Red Wings sales are about "even" at $3M. Starter Corp.
reports that Bulls gear has become the "best-selling special
event in company history," 30% better than the '97 Packers'
Super Bowl merchandise. Bernstein adds that Starter sales
have increased 60%, "mostly because Starter had the locker-
room cap license for the first time, which accounted for"
40% of the company's sales (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/13).
