Agent Leigh Steinberg has launched an entertainment
consulting division focusing on sports-related media
projects, according to Marc Pollack of the HOLLYWOOD
REPORTER. Steinberg, who has been "instrumental in helping
directors and producers add realism to sports-themed films"
and TV series, recently provided technical consultation to
director Oliver Stone on his new football movie, "On Any
Given Sunday," starring Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz and Sean
"Puffy" Combs. Steinberg said his new division "was created
specifically" for film and TV (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 6/17).
LEIGH-VING LARGE? SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Liz Mullen
reports that Steinberg is in "preliminary discussions with
six potential suitors -- including conglomerates,
entertainment companies and publicly traded companies" about
selling his law firm, Steinberg & Moorad. Steinberg: "We
have listened to a few people who have talked acquisition."
Steinberg added that he is considering restructuring the
firm "as an agency rather than a law firm, a move that would
make a sale easier" and would allow "more flexibility in
pursuing other business" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/15).
