          RACING: A big day for Internet search engine Lycos in
     CO yesterday as Matt Kenseth won the Lycos.com 250 NASCAR
     Busch Grand National race in front of 31,250 fans, driving a
     Lycos Chevrolet (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 6/15)....The Devil
     Rays' logo will adorn the hood of the No. 46 First Union
     Chevrolet Monte Carlo in next month's Pepsi 400 at Daytona
     Int'l Speedway.  The team's sponsored car will be driven by
     Jeff Green "in a one-time promotion" (TAMPA TRIBUNE 6/14).
     ...Dale Jarrett on ESPN's NASCAR "ride-along" commercials:
     "I think the commercials have helped NASCAR quite a bit. 
     They help people recognize drivers' faces a little bit more
     because they can see us without our helmets on or wearing an
     open-faced helmet" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 6/13)....VA-
     based Circuit City "will pull its sponsorship" of the NASCAR
     Winston Cup car owned by the Stavola brothers following
     yesterday's Miller Lite 400 at Michigan Speedway.  Circuit
     City Sports Marketing Manager Frank Burchfield said that
     although the company "hasn't ruled out possibly seeking a
     different car for next season ... nothing is being pursued
     at this point" (Skip Wood, RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 6/14).
          NOTES: WNBA Liberty C Kym Hampton has signed deals with
     Black Opal Cosmetics and Nike, "and is near to signing a
     modeling deal with the designer clothing firm, Lane Byrant"
     (N.Y. POST, 6/14)....Kellogg will honor the NBA champion
     Bulls on a cereal package, the first time an NBA team has
     appeared on Kellogg packaging (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/15)....In
     San Antonio, Tim Griffin, on ESPN's Chris Berman and NBC's
     Ahmad Rashad's appearance in Gatorade's "Be Like Mike"
     commercial: "How this guy [Berman] keeps his job with a
     major network amazes me. ... But even more shocking is the
     appearance of Ahmad Rashad in these commercials" (EXPRESS-
     NEWS, 6/14)....Rams FB Craig Heyward filmed three more Zest
     soap commercials (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 6/14).
