OAKLAND CITY COUNCIL READY TO OFFER PEACE PIPE TO RAIDERS?

The Oakland City Council "has approved a proposal to
settle all differences" with the Raiders "and keep massive
public debt from growing any larger," according to Laura
Counts of the OAKLAND TRIBUNE. Oakland City Manager Robert
Bobb said that as soon as details are worked out with the
team, the deal will be "fully disclosed" to the public
before city and county officials vote on it. Bobb said that
he is trying to set up a meeting with the Raiders "within
the next two weeks." Although he would not reveal any
details of the proposal, he said that the discussion "will
not be limited to issues raised in the city and county's
lawsuit against the Raiders" (OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 6/10).
