          RICK TELANDER names his All-NBA writer basketball team
     this morning.  His first team: MIKE WISE, N.Y. Times; JERRY
     BEMBRY, Baltimore Sun; ART THIEL, Seattle Post-
     Intelligencer; CHRIS BROUSSARD, Akron Beacon-Journal; and
     TIM KURKJIAN, ESPN Magazine (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 6/10).
     ...TOMMY AMAKER and Fila USA have established a $25,000
     scholarship within the Fairfax County (VA) Public School
     System.  The scholarship honors Amaker's mother ALMA AMAKER,
     who recently retired after a 37-year teaching career (Fila).
     ...Oakland attorney JOHN BURRIS withdrew from the LATRELL
     SPREWELL reckless driving case yesterday, turning the
     defense over to Palo Alto-based attorney KURT ROBINSON (S.F.
     CHRONICLE, 6/10)....A lawsuit filed by Mirage Hotel craps
     dealer JAMES BRASICH alleges DENNIS RODMAN "repeatedly
     rubbed the bald plaintiffs's head, stomach and groin with
     the dice before rolling them" (LAS VEGAS SUN, 6/9)....Labor
     Rights advocate CHARLES KERNAGHAN, calls MICHAEL JORDAN's
     comments on ESPN regarding his upcoming trip to Nike's
     Asian-contracted factories as "lip service," adding that if
     Jordan "allows himself to go on an arranged trip, where
     there are Nike translators, where workers are spoken to in
     the factories, in front of management, then it will be a
     real charade" ("Extra," 6/9).
