JUST FOR FEET GETS TO THE END ZONE WITH SNEAKER STADIUM BUY

NJ-based Sneaker Stadium is being bought by AL-based
Just For Feet, according to Lauren Coleman-Lochner of the
Bergen RECORD. Just For Feet, which operates 97 superstores
and 150 smaller-format stores, will assume $43M of Sneaker
Stadium's debt. The purchase price was not disclosed. JFF
Chair & CEO Harold Ruttenberg said that within the next year
all 38 of Sneaker Stadium's superstores will be refurbished
as JFF outlets. Piper Jaffray analyst Brent Rystrom said
that the combined company will now be the second-largest
footwear retailer after Foot Locker, with sales expected to
be $800-900M this year (Bergen RECORD, 6/9). The N.Y. POST
reported that JFF will pay $31M in 2002 if Sneaker Stadium
reaches certain financial targets (N.Y. POST, 6/9).
