GRIFFEY, JORDAN BATTLING IT OUT FOR TRADING CARD SUPREMACY

Mariners CF Ken Griffey Jr. is the "king of cardboard,"
with "almost" a third more mainstream trading cards and
"almost twice as many overall issues" as Bulls G Michael
Jordan, according to Bob Diamond of the MIAMI HERALD. The
latest issue of SportsCards Magazine and Price Guide
features a "checklist" of trading card figures, and Diamond
writes that it contains some "interesting numbers."
Griffey's 10-year total card value of $56,091 "tops"
     Jordan's 12-year total of $42,643, but Jordan's average
value of $50.05 per card beats Griffey's $45.42 average. In
addition, the total value of Griffey's 19 rookie cards is
"only" $230.50, while Jordan's four rookie cards are valued
at $3,775 (Bob Diamond, MIAMI HERALD, 5/29).
