PISTONS' DAVIDSON CONTINUES TO BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

          Pistons Owner William Davidson and the Lightning "are
     close to agreeing on terms to buy the hockey team," according
     to Ira Kaufman of the TAMPA TRIBUNE.  Pistons President Tom
     Wilson said that a purchase agreement "may be only days
     away."  Although Wilson said Davidson and the Lightning "can
     now see the light at the end of the tunnel," he cautioned
     that a middle ground still hasn't been reached on a purchase
     price and "a couple of intransigent vendors could ultimately
     scuttle" the deal (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 5/14).
