          The Dodgers have closed their executive dining room,
     which will save the club about $200,000 a year.  Dodgers
     President Bob Graziano said the move "was done to create
     camaraderie among employees and management" (ORANGE COUNTY
     REGISTER, 5/13)....D'Backs Managing General Partner Jerry
     Colangelo is interviewed in a Q&A in the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. 
     Colangelo, on his observations on the team's inaugural
     season: "Everyone in the organization would like to have
     gotten off to a better start and it is disappointing, but we
     have to realize that we're involved in a long-term situation.
     ... All I can say to the fans is don't lose confidence in us,
     because we will eventually turn this thing around" (ARIZONA
     REPUBLIC, 5/14)....In Miami, Edwin Pope, on the Marlins'
     demand for a new ballpark: "The Marlins have given ample
     notice of what the franchise requires to survive.  There's
     time enough.  If South Florida is worth its saltwater, it
     will prove it has enough honest leaders to save big-league
     baseball here" (MIAMI HERALD, 5/14)....The Mets-Padres
     rainout on Tuesday was the first in San Diego since April 20,
     1983 (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 5/14).
