FRANCHISE NOTES

In St. Paul, Gary Olson reports that the NHL expansion
Wild expect to name a president in 60-90 days. Early
"speculation" includes Coyotes President Shawn Hunter and
Kings President Tim Leiweke, who both have marketing ties
with the T-Wolves (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 5/13)....In San
Antonio, an EXPRESS-NEWS editorial noted the Spurs' putting
playoff games on PPV at a cost of $24.95, and stated, "With
public support for [a new arena] iffy at best, the Spurs may
regret this latest attempt to maximize revenues at the
expense of their long-suffering, loyal fans" (SAN ANTONIO
     EXPRESS-NEWS, 5/12)....Don McNeely, who has a non-voting, 4%
interest in the Vikings, but not in the corporation that
owns the team, surfaced yesterday as another investor in Tom
Clancy's group to buy the Vikings. It is believed McNeely
would have about a 3% interest (STAR TRIBUNE, 5/13).
Meanwhile, the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE examines Clancy's
pending divorce and writes that Wanda Clancy, Clancy's
estranged wife, "wants half of a fortune that she contends
exceeds" $100M in their divorce (STAR TRIBUNE, 5/13).
...Despite being 24-7 going into last night's game, the
Yankees drew only 16,606 against the Royals for the opener
     of a nine-game homestand (N.Y. TIMES, 5/13).
