GREAT ONE'S ROLLER HOCKEY CENTERS FEEL THE WEST IS THE BEST

Wayne Gretzky has attached his name to the "business of
building roller hockey centers -- the first of which is a
three-rink complex already up and running" in Irvine, CA,
according to Kevin Paul Dupont of the BOSTON GLOBE. San
Diego-based Worldwide Roller Hockey Facilities President
Shael Wilder said that "there are plans for 11 such arenas
to be up and running within two years" in CA, CO, NV and AZ.
The centers "build their business around leagues," as the
Irvine facility is a three-rink facility with a pro shop,
food concessions, arcade and "no fewer than 1,950 players
stocking 195 teams that play in 10-week cycles." Wilder
said that while there "has been lots of interest" from
potential investors in the Northeast, the company is now
"concentrating on projects out West" (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/26).
