RACING NEWS & NOTES: CIRCLE K IS NASCAR'S NEXT PIT STOP

          NASCAR and Tosco Marketing Co., owner of Circle K
     stores and 76 gas stations nationwide, announced a deal
     making Circle K the "Official Pit Stop of NASCAR."  Circle K
     sells products from some NASCAR brands, including Kellogg's,
     Winston, A-B, Kodak, Coca-Cola, Tide, Skoal and Kraft. 
     Circle K's sponsorship includes developing a co-branded logo
     for its NASCAR program; running trade and consumer
     advertising, promotion and PR campaigns; tying into official
     promo themes; strengthening the current 76 relationship by
     bringing Circle K into the sport; and developing integrated
     promos with NASCAR media and corporate partners (NASCAR). 
     In AZ, James Garcia reported that Circle K has 2,500 stores
     nationwide, and will promote the alliance through the tag
     "Your Pit Stop For All Your Convenience Needs," with
     customers shopping in a "pit stop" environment starting this
     summer.  Among the promos, 76 and Circle K will promote four
     NASCAR collectible lapel pins (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 4/22).
