HAD ENOUGH OF CHARLES IN CHARGE? ROCKETS TV RATINGS GROUNDED

          Rockets TV ratings in '97-98 "plummeted," dropping 39%
     on cable and 32% for over-the-air road games, according to
     David Barron of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE.  The Rockets' average
     regular-season rating on KHTV was an 8.7, down from 12.8
     last year, and a 13.6 in '95-96.  Rockets games on Fox
     Sports Southwest averaged a 4.6 this season, down from 6.3
     in '96-97 and 6.2 two years ago.  Preliminary figures also
     show that Rockets games on NBC averaged an 11.0, down from
     12.7 in '96-97 (David Barron, HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 4/21).
