LEAGUE NOTES

USA Track & Field CEO Craig Masback was profiled in the
BOSTON GLOBE by Mark Blaudschun. Masback "knows the power
of television and envisions a Track & Field Channel on cable
TV similar to The Golf Channel. He wants to introduce a
weekly kids show" (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/19).....In Portland,
Dwight Jaynes wrote on the ABL: "There is no way anyone is
going to convince me that the league isn't losing millions
and isn't well on its way toward a sad end." Noting reports
about WNBA players looking to unionize, Jaynes wrote, "I
think they would be wise to forget it. Soon there is going
to be one league -- with, at the most, a dozen teams -- and
a lot of players looking for jobs" (Portland OREGONIAN,
4/17)...PBA Tour Commissioner Mark Gerberich was the "Guest
Columnist" in Sunday's N.Y. DAILY NEWS and touted the
league's new look and its TV deal with CBS. The PBA Tour
"is undergoing the most monumental changes since adding a
     10th pin a century ago" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 4/19).
