NO MINT ON THIS TIGER'S PILLOW: WOODS WINS MEDAL DEBATE

IMG announced that Tiger Woods has won a "substantial"
monetary settlement and a permanent injunction barring
Franklin Mint and its owners from using the golfer's name
and likeness on any products or merchandise. The injunction
will be entered by a federal court in L.A. as a final
settlement of the suit. Specific terms of the settlement
were not disclosed. Following Woods' victory at The Masters
last year, Franklin Mint, without authorization, issued for
sale a "Tiger Woods Eyewitness Commemorative Medal." Woods
was represented in the suit by Mark Lee of the L.A. firm
Manatt, Phelps & Phillips (IMG). Franklin Mint spokesperson
Mona Liss said the company settled because "there was no
longer any interest" in the Woods medal, "so we decided this
would be the best way to resolve our differences" (USA
TODAY, 4/16). Reports state that Franklin Mint sold between
     2,000-2,500 Woods medals for $37.50 (AP/Mult., 4/16).
