LEAGUE NOTES

GOLF SUIT: The AP's Ron Sirak reported that a U.S.
District Court Judge denied a request for an injunction in a
$9M antitrust suit filed by Harry Toscano which claimed that
the Senior PGA Tour and its sponsors "conspired to limit
tournament fields to only big name players." Judge David
Levi said Toscano "hadn't proven that his case would likely
succeed on its merits." But Toscano will proceed with his
case and ask for a rehearing (AP/DETROIT NEWS, 3/28).
TENNIS: ESPN's Dick Schaap: "Couple Andre [Agassi's]
comeback with Venus Williams' rise ... and Americans just
might start showing an interest in tennis that would measure
up to their current interest in golf" (ESPN, 3/29).
