ESPN TO AIR PRESIDENT CLINTON'S TOWN MEETING ON RACE/SPORTS
President Clinton will discuss race in America with a "focus on sports" when he conducts a town hall meeting in Houston on April 14, according to Nancy Mathis of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. The meeting will be shown live on ESPN, and presidential aides said Clinton will use the event to "examine the role of sports as an analogy to expanding access and opportunity in society." The forum will feature a panel discussion and an audience, which will ask questions of "both the president and the panel." ESPN "will put together the panel," which will include a sports commissioner, a sports media representative, a pro athlete, and a team owner, among others (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 3/20).
