HURRICANES' KARMANOS TO SOLICIT LOCAL INVESTORS

Hurricanes Owner Peter Karmanos said yesterday that he
"would solicit local investors for his hockey team," reports
Steve Politi of the Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER. Karmanos said
he would be willing to sell a chunk "as big as" 30%, "if
there's interest." Karmanos: "I'm going to be out looking
for investors. The earliest I'd do it is this summer. It's
nothing more than hopefully getting local people involved in
the team." Karmanos currently owns 60% of the team. His
former partner at Compuware, Thomas Thewes, owns 30% while
Canes GM Jim Rutherford owns 10% (NEWS & OBSERVER, 3/17).
ALL IN THE FAMILY: Timberwolves Owner Glen Taylor sold
his six-bank holding company, Taylor Bancshares, to T-Wolves
minority owner Dennis Frandsen. Frandsen's company,
Frandsen Financial Corp., "probably paid between" $50-$60M
for Taylor Bancshares (Terry Fiedler, STAR TRIBUNE, 3/17).
