MLB PUTS SOME INCENTIVE BEHIND THE GIFT OF CARD GIVING

Every MLB team has placed "buckets" of trading cards in
dugouts during spring training, according to Bill Lankhof of
the TORONTO SUN. An MLB advisory reads: "If fans see their
heroes reading cards and giving away free packs this will
help to make baseball cards cool again." The advisory adds
that MLB players should hand out the cards themselves, "As
you know baseball cards are the players' association's
largest revenue generator." Lankhof: "Somehow, it always
comes down to one thing ... money" (TORONTO SUN, 3/13).
