TAGLIABUE MAY RULE ON VIKINGS OWNERSHIP NEXT WEEK

          An NFL spokesperson said that Commissioner Paul
     Tagliabue "expects to pick a winner in the battle for
     Vikings ownership" between Tom Clancy and team President
     Roger Headrick "sometime next week," according to Parrish &
     Banks of the Minneapolis STAR TRIUNE.  Yesterday, Tagliabue
     questioned four Vikings co-owners "about their intention to
     reinvest in the team" under Clancy.  A source close to the
     hearing said that Tagliabue "zeroed in on the provision in
     the Clancy agreement that allows any of the current owners
     to remain minority investors."  The co-owners were also
     questioned individually about "their understanding of the
     team's partnership agreement, particularly its right of
     first refusal."  Parrish & Banks write that Tagliabue
     "apparently is seeking to learn whether some [of] the
     Vikings co-owners are selling the team or attempting to oust
     Headrick as president" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 3/12).
