LOCAL OILERS GROUP SECURES LOAN, BUT DO THEY HAVE ENOUGH $$?

"The bank deal is done. They've got the loan. The
Edmonton Oiler ownership group has its financing in place,"
according to Terry Jones of the EDMONTON SUN. The group's
$5M U.S. non-refundable deposit is in an account, and the
lawyer's trust check "will likely be written by midday
tomorrow." Jones reports, however, that "the deal still
isn't sealed, and it will go down to the deadline." Local
group spokesperson Cal Nichols: "There is reason to be
concerned. We still don't have enough of the equity money.
But there are irons in the fire" (EDMONTON SUN, 3/12). In
Edmonton, Bart Johnson reports that the local group
yesterday received C$1M from Jim Woods, a financial advisor
with Midland Walwyn Capital, to bring the group's total to
C$49M. Nichols said that he "wants a commitment for the
full" C$60M by tomorrow's deadline (EDMONTON SUN, 3/12).
