The NHL's Winter Break '98 is examined in USA TODAY's

the break is an opportunity to heal," while the member teams
use the time to take part "in philanthropic endeavors" (USA
TODAY, 2/19). THE DAILY continues its profiles of NHL teams'
Winter Break activities. Today, the Central Division:
BLACKHAWKS: Fundraising dinner to raise money for
Chicago Blackhawks Charities. Autograph sessions, Q&A,
auction, etc. Head Coach Craig Hartsburg, LW Bob Probert
and LW Ethan Moreau will attend. Tix cost $40.
STARS: "Dunham/Miller vs. the Hardline Winter Break
Hockey Challenge," a hockey game between sports radio KTCK-
AM's morning crew and afternoon drive-time crew. Morning
crew will be coached by Stars Color Analyst Daryl Reaugh;
afternoon squad will be coached by Stars Coach Ken
Hitchcock. Stars players will referee. Proceeds benefit TX
chapter of the Special Olympics; Local tie-in supporting
Wendy's sponsorship of Team USA and the NHL where losing
game pieces from the national promo during Winter Break are
worth Dallas Stars Dollars. Up to five Stars Dollars can be
used on tickets, merchandise and skating.
RED WINGS: Charity benefit for Juvenile Diabetes
Foundation with team players, hosted by Juvenile Diabetes
Foundation in conjunction with Red Wings wives. Features
dinner and show at Detroit Second City.
COYOTES: NHL Breakout '98: Street Roller Hockey
Tournament and Festival at ASU Univ.
BLUES: "Blues Skate For Miracles": Blues players skated
with fans to benefit the Children's Miracle Network; Bowl
With the Blues to benefit Gateway & American Cancer Society.

MAPLE LEAFS: "Leafs Super Skills Challenge": Team
competes in skills events for charities; 7th Annual Have-A-
Heart Dinner: Players serve dinner to 250 guests to benefit
