FACILITY NOTES

The KS State Senate cleared the way for a proposed
$252M speedway in Wyandotte County (K.C. STAR, 2/18)....In
Charlotte, Tom Sorensen wrote on the Hornets' pursuit of a
new arena and the role of Hornets Owner George Shinn:
"During the last campaign, the pro-arena crowd considered
Shinn a liability, and it kept him in the shadows. If the
Hornets want a new building, they need to keep him there"
(CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 2/17)....In Boston, Will McDonough
wrote that the Red Sox "are interested in building a new
Fenway Park down the street" from the current park. The
plan calls for the team to stay at Fenway until the new park
is built. The current site would then be "developed
commercially to revitalize the Kenmore Square area."
McDonough: "It's the only thing the Sox have going at the
moment, and there is a lot of interest" (BOSTON GLOBE 2/14).
